About Sissy K. Picklebottom

Sissy K. Picklebottom writes about institutions, and the people who quietly outlast them.

Before the novels she spent nineteen years as a process auditor, which is a job that consists almost entirely of standing very still in loud rooms and writing down what everyone has agreed not to mention. Three of those rooms became books. A fourth was an ice rink at six in the morning, which turned out not to be a novel about hockey at all.

She lives in a house with an unreasonable number of clocks, none of which agree, and answers her own e-mail eventually.

Where to start

If you like your science fiction quiet and administrative, start with Cog in the Machine. If you would rather be moved than unsettled, start with The Cellist and the Hockey Player.
