Author Responsibilities
BookFunnel handles payment, tax and delivery. These are the things that stay yours.
This page is not final. What follows is drawn from how the service actually behaves, not from a published policy. The contractual version belongs with the Terms of Use, which are still being prepared.
The book
- You have the right to sell it. Rights, cover, and anything licensed inside it.
- It is the book you described. The reader buys what the page said they were buying.
- It works. A file that will not open is a refund and a complaint, and both land on you first.
The price
You set it, in US dollars. It is shown to the reader before they pay, with tax added on top and stated separately. Readers outside the US can buy, and are charged in US dollars.
Refund requests
These come to you first, with the reader's own words, and the decision has a clock on it.
- You can approve. BookFunnel then issues the money.
- You can object, which asks BookFunnel to look at it. It is not a refusal — the reader is told nothing and can still withdraw.
- You cannot decline outright. Refusing a refund is BookFunnel's to do, because BookFunnel is the seller of record.
- Doing nothing has an outcome. A request nobody answers is approved automatically once the wait runs out, and paid. A reader is never left waiting on an inbox.
Your queue shows the deadline for each open request, so the wait is never a surprise.
Your readers
A sale gives you the sale. It does not give you the reader's address to mail as you like — what you may do with a buyer's details is governed by the privacy policy the reader agreed to, not by the fact that they bought something.
Keeping your details current
Payment and tax details go stale. Earnings cannot be sent to an account that has closed, and a tax form that is out of date can stop a payout.
